Abstract

A field experiment was conducted to evaluate gladiolus cultivar for flowering traits at Main Experiment Farm, School of Agriculture Science, Career Point University Kota Rajasthan. Experiment consist of twelve commercial cultivars viz., Aarti, American Beauty, Anjali, Darshan, Dhanvantari, Gulal, Jyotsna, Mohini, Red Beauty, Snow Princes, Yellow Jester and Yellow Stone with randomized block design and replicated five times. The mean performance of gladiolus varieties was significant for all the flowering traits studied. Data revealed that var. Mohini was taken minimum days to spike emergence (83.20), whereas var. American Beauty was taken minimum days to colour show (95.60) and days to opening of first flower (97.80). Other parameters like length of spike was found maximum in variety Anjali (78.40 cm) while length of rachis was recorded maximum in variety American Beauty (68.60 cm). American Beauty was also recorded maximum number of open florets (14.80), whereas maximum diameter of first floret recorded by variety Yellow Stone (9.75 cm).
