First report of Uromyces setariae causing rust on Alternanthera bettzickiana in India

Abstract

In December 2023, leaves of the A. bettzickian (Regel) G. Nicholson with typical symptoms of rust were collected in the college campus of Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil Mahavidyalaya, Pandharpur, (Autonomous), Solapur, Maharashtra, India. Based on its morphological characters, the pathogen was identified as Uromyces setarie Yoshino. This is the first report of rust on an A. bettzickian in India.
