Survey on the occurrence of Sugarcane diseases in Krishna Zone of Andhra Pradesh

Sugarcane crop production and quality highly influenced by the diseases. Management of diseases is possible through many ways. Among, the management practices, epidemiology plays an initial role. Occurrence, factors influencing epidemics and its spread through regular and systematic surveys form the foundation of effective plant health management, ensuring sustainable agricultural production and food security. Survey for the occurrence of sugarcane diseases in Krishna Zone during 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 was conducted. Red rot, smut and wilt were observed in severe incidences in ratoon crop where susceptible varieties grown. Yellow leaf disease, Mosaic, top rot and all foliar diseases also observed in sporadic patches.
