Disclosures and Declarations

Author Guidelines

All authors are required to provide information regarding funding sources, any financial or non-financial interests, study-specific approvals from the relevant ethics committee for research involving human participants and/or animals, informed consent for studies involving human subjects, and statements regarding animal welfare where applicable. The inclusion of this information is contingent upon the journal's scope and the article's nature. Submissions may impact public health or general welfare, thus it is imperative for all authors to include appropriate disclosures and declarations.

Data Transparency

Authors must ensure that all data, materials, and any software applications or custom code support their published claims and adhere to field standards. It is important to note that journals may have distinct policies regarding the sharing of research data in accordance with disciplinary norms.

Role of the Corresponding Author

One author will be designated as the Corresponding Author, representing all co-authors and addressing any inquiries related to the accuracy or integrity of the work. The responsibilities of the Corresponding Author include:

  • Ensuring that all listed authors have approved the manuscript prior to submission, including the names and order of authors.
  • Managing all communication between the journal and co-authors before and after publication.
  • Providing transparency regarding the reuse of material and disclosing any unpublished material included in the manuscript in a cover letter to the Editor.
  • Ensuring that disclosures, declarations, and transparency statements from all authors are appropriately included in the manuscript.

The responsibility of managing communication between the journal and co-authors during submission and proofing can be delegated to a Contact or Submitting Author, provided the Corresponding Author is clearly indicated in the manuscript.

Author Contributions

In the absence of specific guidelines, and in research fields where contributions can be distinctly identified, the Publisher recommends that authors include contribution statements detailing each author's role to promote transparency. These contributions should be listed on a separate title page.

Affiliation

Each author's primary affiliation should reflect the institution where the majority of their work was conducted. If an author has since moved to a different institution, the current address may also be included. Please note that addresses will not be updated after the publication of the article.

Changes to Authorship

Authors are strongly encouraged to verify the correctness of the author group, the Corresponding Author, and the order of authors at the time of submission. Changes to authorship, including adding or removing authors, changes to the Corresponding Author, or alterations in the sequence of authors, are not permitted after the manuscript has been accepted.

Please note that author names will be published exactly as they appear on the accepted submission.

It is essential that author names are accurately spelled and that addresses and affiliations are current. While adding or removing authors during the revision stage is generally not allowed, exceptions may be made if warranted, with reasons for such changes clearly explained. Approval for these changes during revision is at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief. Please be aware that individual journals may have specific policies regarding authorship changes during the revision stage.

Author Identification

Authors are encouraged to utilize their ORCID ID when submitting an article for consideration or to acquire one during the submission process.

Deceased or Incapacitated Authors

In instances where a co-author passes away or becomes incapacitated during the writing, submission, or peer-review process, co-authors wishing to include the author should obtain approval from a legal representative, such as a direct relative.

Authorship Issues or Disputes

In the event of an authorship dispute arising during peer review or after acceptance, the journal will not investigate or adjudicate. Authors will be required to resolve the dispute independently. If they are unable to do so, the journal reserves the right to withdraw the manuscript from the editorial process or, in the case of a published paper, to address the issue with the authors' institutions in accordance with their guidelines.

Compliance with Ethical Standards

To maintain objectivity and transparency in research, authors should include relevant information regarding funding sources, potential conflicts of interest (both financial and non-financial), informed consent for studies involving human participants, and statements on animal welfare if the research involved animals. Authors should include the following statements, if applicable, in a separate section titled “Compliance with Ethical Standards” when submitting their manuscript:

  • Disclosure of potential conflicts of interest
  • Research involving Human Participants and/or Animals
  • Informed consent

Please note that standards may vary slightly across journals depending on their peer review policies (e.g., single or double-blind peer review) and subject disciplines. Authors should carefully review the instructions provided by the journal before submission. The Corresponding Author should be prepared to collect documentation of compliance with ethical standards and provide it upon request during peer review or after publication. Editors reserve the right to reject manuscripts that do not meet the aforementioned guidelines. Authors will be held accountable for any false statements or failure to comply with these guidelines. Authors, reviewers, or editors found guilty of misconduct may face serious consequences, including retraction of published work, bans on future submissions, or reporting to relevant institutions.

Competing Interests

Authors are required to disclose any interests that are directly or indirectly related to the submitted work. Interests arising within the last three years of initiating the work (i.e., conducting the research and preparing the manuscript for submission) should be reported. Interests beyond this timeframe must also be disclosed if they could reasonably be perceived as influencing the submitted work. This disclosure fosters a transparent process and helps readers assess potential biases. It is important to clarify that financial relationships with organizations that sponsored the research or compensation received for consultancy work are not inherently inappropriate.

Online First

The article will be published online upon receipt of the corrected proofs. This serves as the official first publication and can be cited with the DOI. Following the release of the printed version, the paper may also be cited by issue and page numbers.

Publishing Fee

Authors opting for open access publication in IJAI are required to pay an article processing charge (APC), which will be determined as of the date the article is accepted for publication. The current APC is subject to VAT or local taxes where applicable.
